AWE workers accept new pay offer

Prospect members at the Atomic Weapons Establishment at Aldermaston in Berkshire have voted overwhelmingly in favour of accepting a new offer for 2010 pay.

The offer is worth 2.5 per cent overall. The new money, made available after successful industrial action short of a strike, ensures a more even distribution of the award. Even the lowest individual award will average 1 per cent.

The award will be paid with January’s salaries. Both sides have agreed to address industrial relations issues. A review of AWE‘s pay system will also be undertaken.

Negotiator Bob King said: “We are pleased with the outcome. It is now down to both sides to work together to resolve our industrial relations issues and review the pay system here at AWE.”
