Q&As: Why vote yes?

Prospect has launched a question and answer briefing for members on why the union is campaigning for a yes vote in the ballot for industrial action over pensions.

It stresses that while Prospect is not opposed to discussing reforms to the schemes, the changes the government wants to impose are unfair and place a disproportionate burden on public sector workers.

Among other things, the briefing explains:

  • the changes the government is seeking to impose
  • why Prospect believes public service pensions are already sustainable
  • why reforming public sector pensions will not benefit the private sector
  • the impact on part-time workers
  • what Prospect hopes to achieve from the industrial action.
