Engineering and shipbuilding unions have launched a campaign to save 40,000 shipbuilding jobs being put at risk by the government’s decision to put naval contracts out to international competition.

Prospect members at SONI, which operates the electricity transmission system for Northern Ireland, have suspended their current industrial action including a 24 hour strike scheduled for 15 April.

A one-day strike at SONI will take place on 15 April.
