Prospect UKAEA
How Prospect can help you
Being a member of a trades union gives you a sense of workplace solidarity and strength in numbers. You can speak with a collective voice alongside your colleagues. It is much more effective to work together than as individuals. We use this strength and collective voice to try to help UKAEA management plan better to prevent workplace problems arising. Where problems do occur we aim to persuade UKAEA management to make improvements.
Prospect members at UKAEA are supported by:
- Trained representatives in the workforce. These “reps” can advise on general issues of employment, report concerns (anonymously if wished) to Prospect branch officers and UKAEA management, and direct members towards more specialist advice if needed.
- Local representatives and Prospect staff with specialist knowledge and expertise in health & safety matters, employment law, pensions, etc.
- Local branch officers and other committee members who are directly elected at an Annual General Meeting.
- Full-time Prospect negotiators, organisers, researchers and other union professionals based at the regional office.
