Prospect UKAEA
Prospect’s role at UKAEA
Prospect is the trades union officially recognised by UKAEA management for collective bargaining on all issues relating to your employment here. This includes such fundamental issues as pay, pensions, health and safety, and working conditions. UKAEA fully supports its employees being members of Prospect to maximise staff representation.
Our role is to look after your interests at work and make sure they are not overlooked. We will always seek to work constructively with UKAEA management, because that’s usually the best way forward. But ultimately, the interests, objectives and wishes of our members are our priority; these inform and guide how we engage in discussions and negotiations with management.
We aim to:
- Ensure that pay and other rewards are maximised and distributed fairly.
- Protect your occupational pension and related benefits.
- Look after your health and safety at work.
- Protect you against unfair treatment at UKAEA, and support you if you have any problems or difficulties at work.
- Provide opportunities for you to enhance your career.
- Promote learning in the workplace.
- Promote fairness and equal opportunities both inside and outside the workplace.
Both a full-time negotiator and local branch officers meet frequently with senior UKAEA management at Joint Council meetings, monthly joint meetings, and on other occasions to address specific issues.
