Historic Environment Scotland
Historic Environment Scotland (HES) is the lead public body established to investigate, care for and promote Scotland’s historic environment.
HES is responsible for more than 300 properties of national importance including Edinburgh Castle, Skara Brae, Fort George and numerous smaller sites, plus internationally significant collections including more than 5 million drawings, photographs, negatives and manuscripts, along with 20 million aerial images of locations across the world.
Prospect represents a wide range of professional and technical backgrounds and specialisms across HES. The local branch committee is elected at an AGM, with committee meetings held bi-monthly, normally in advance of Partnership Meetings with HES management. Internally Prospect is represented at monthly Operational Managers meetings. Externally, branch officials attend public sector campaign meetings as well as quarterly meetings of the Prospect Heritage Group (Scotland).
