Prospect’s National Secretary for Scotland, Richard Hardy, has been announced as one of the members of Scotland’s Just Transition Commission.
The new commission has been established to advise the Scottish Government on securing a fair transition to a low-carbon economy.
The forum will ensure that the voice of industry, science, environmentalists and crucially workers is heard in plans to create a sustainable economy. The voice of unions is key to delivering fair work and challenging inequalities in the labour market.
As the leading union of specialists and engineers in energy, Prospect will bring the expertise of its members to the work of the commission.
Richard Hardy, National Secretary for Prospect in Scotland, said:
“I am very honoured and proud to be asked to represent Prospect and the wider trade union movement on the commission. The taskforce has a vital role in advising how we address a just transition and the challenges of creating a low-carbon future. This is one of the most crucial issues facing workers in the early 21st Century.”
