TUC unveils site to promote cuts march

The TUC has launched a new website, March for the Alternative, to mobilise support for its March 26 demonstration against the cuts.

Tens of thousands of people are expected march in Central London, calling for an alternative to the coalition government's plans for fast, deep cuts to public spending.

Protesters will assemble along Embankment at 11am and make their way to Hyde Park for a mass rally, passing parliament on the way.

"Getting a huge turnout on the streets of London will demonstrate to the government that if they don't change course, there will be a very real political price to pay for the damage they're wreaking on British society," says the TUC.

Individuals are being invited to add their pledge to the site, explaining why they oppose the cuts and are attending. The target is to get 10,000 pledges.

You can also sign up on the site for regular email updates.
