Lobby gives voice to specialists

The voice of Prospect’s specialists was heard loud and clear at a successful lobby of parliament on 9 September.

Over one hundred members and supporters filled a House of Commons committee room to listen to a succession of MPs, including opposition speakers Tessa Jowell, Jack Dromey and Kevan Jones denounce the government’s Superannuation Bill being rushed through parliament.

The Bill paves the way for massive cuts to compensation payable to civil servants who lose their jobs.

Deputy general secretary Dai Hudd told supporters the pressure was beginning to tell on the government.

“The support at the lobby, the flood of messages Prospect has received and the on-going lobbying of MPs in their constituencies is getting through to the government. We must keep up the pressure.”Prospect is encouraging members to send in their own comments on the Superannuation Bill.
