In the first year, with effect from 1 April, there will be a 4.2% increase on all salaries.

In addition, any staff required to do standby or work on a bank holiday, including shift workers that are not rostered to work that day, to be given the option to take a day off in lieu or claim a single time payment for the day in question.

In 2019, the pay award will be calculated by the Retail Price Index measure of inflation plus 0.50%, with a minimum award of 3%.

Prospect national secretary Steve Thomas said: “This pay award reflects good industrial relations, the ongoing success of the business and our members’ critical contributions to that. Western Power is facing new challenges with changing demand and rapidly changing technology; an engaged and fairly rewarded workforce will be critical in meeting those.”

“Moving on from successful pay negotiations, the Prospect Branch Executive Committee, myself and wider representatives will continue to provide support and advice to members as well as pursuing a range of other priorities with, and on behalf of, our growing membership in Western Power.”
