How we work in BT
The Prospect BT Division works in partnership with BT both at BT Group and line of business level. We negotiate with BT on everything that affects our members’ working lives including pay, pensions and conditions of employment. The union employs professional negotiators who work with BT at Group and Line of Business level but the policies we pursue are set by members, through direct consultation on major issues including campaigns and e ballots, and by elected representatives on Line of Business Industrial Relations Committees and the BT Committee.
Once a year we have a conference for all reps in BT – this sets strategy and priorities and elects the BT Committee. We are also experienced at dealing with members who face individual problems at work. Our network of branches includes trained representatives, or case handers. These reps provide support and advice ranging from informal advice on local issues to representing members at formal hearings with BT.
