Prospect is the largest of the recognised trade unions within Ordnance Survey and represents all grades of staff across all locations.
We have an extensive representatives' network across all functions within OSHQ and field regions throughout the UK.
Branch activity is coordinated through an elected branch council, which meets monthly and discusses current issues across Ordnance Survey such as pay, progression, pensions, allowances, redundancies, policies and all related terms and conditions of employment.
We consult regularly with Ordnance Survey and negotiate on all matters relating to members' employment, through regularly held Trade Union Side or issue-specific meetings.
The branch also plays an active role in responding to government consultations on the future of Ordnance Survey, Open Data, and the creation of a Public Data Corporation.
Branch policy is set annually by members through a delegate conference held in February, with regular updates and circulars issued to members on progress on actions taken. We also have a regular newsletter for members called Prospector, issued on average 10 times each year, and we have an Ordnance Survey eBranch.
The branch is supported by Prospect's Chertsey office, which coordinates legal and other professional support for Prospect members in Ordnance Survey alongside professional negotiating resources with our full-time officer, John Ferrett.
