According to the report, Britain’s young core workers are defined as:

• aged 21–30
• predominantly working in the private sector
• working full or part-time
• not in full-time education
• earning low to average wages.

The report, which has lots of useful information about the demographics, values and experiences of this group of young people, sets out the nine key challenges facing them:

• low pay
• poor quality jobs
• lack of training opportunities
• overqualification
• weak opportunities for progression
• underemployment
• precarious working conditions
• bullying and harassment
• pressure on working parents.
