How you can support Heartunions week

How you can support #Heartunions week

The TUC’s Heartunions week includes a wide range of activities to highlight how unions make a positive difference in workplaces.

Tuesday 9 February – Big Workplace meeting

Prospect has encouraged as many branches as possible to hold simultaneous Big Workplace Meetings at 12.30pm on Tuesday 9 February.

You can watch a live broadcast of a meeting hosted by TUC General Secretary Frances O’Grady, with special guest comedian Eddie Izzard, at 12.45pm. It is a key opportunity for union members to get an update on the Trade Union bill and to ask questions.

Enjoy a snapshot of activities across the country captured on the heartunions website, by scrolling down the homepage.

Don’t forget – you don’t have to be in a branch meeting to watch the broadcast – anyone can join in.

Wednesday 10 February – Trade Union bill petition handover

On Wednesday, union members will hand in the petition against the Trade Union bill to 10 Downing Street. If you haven’t already signed it, please do so before Wednesday.

Thursday 11 February – High-visibility day of action

Thursday is the high-visibility day of action. All the plans coming in from around the country look great – leafleting at train stations, city centres, football matches, public meetings, rallies and lots more!

Social media shareables

Infographics, friendly employer quotes and workplace rep films will be housed on the 'Get Involved' page. More than 1,000 people now have a heartunions twibbon on their Twitter profile.

Ask a friend to join a union

A key action for the week is to make sure everyone asks a friend to join a union. The TUC has refreshed its unionfinder to make it even easier to help non-members work out which union to join.
