Tomorrow's March for the Alternative: final details

Tomorrow's March for the Alternative: final details

The TUC has issued outlined more advice for those attending tomorrow's March for the Alternative. More than 1,000 stewards will ensure that things run smoothly. Prospect members are asked to go to Zone 10 of the assembly area, to the east of Waterloo Bridge near Temple tube station.

The TUC has issued travel advice on its website. It advises people to stagger their arrival - the march forms up from 11am but will still be leaving the Victoria Embankment well after 2pm. It adds:

  • Arrive from the back of the march - don't try to join from the front as the roads will be full. Stations like Southwark, Mansion House, Farringdon and Bank are good points from which to join the march at the back.
  • Don't join feeder marches – there are no official feeder marches and despite their best intentions, they will make the day more difficult for everybody. They risk interfering with the TUC's arrangements for disabled marchers.

People are also advised to stagger their journeys home.

The TUC will be sending updates throughout the day on Twitter as @march26march (See http://twitter.com/march26march). Those who don't do Twitter can still get updates on an iPhone or Android Smartphone by using the March for the Alternative phone app.

The Metropolitan Police Service Twitter account @CO11MetPolice (http://twitter.com/CO11MetPolice) will be updating information about the march.
