Courses for Prospect reps
Prospect is committed to ensuring our workplace representatives have the skills and knowledge they need to carry out their trade union role effectively and to the best of their ability.
Our education team delivers courses to hundreds of members across the UK each year. The national education programme 2019 will deliver a quicker route for reps to support and grow membership and be ready to represent members.
All new reps will be required to get started by reading our Reps' Handbook before attending a Prospect rep course.
The most significant change is the introduction of core rep skills courses: Reps Part 1: Key skills and Reps Part 2: Handling cases.
The Reps 1 course replaces the Helping and Advising People @ Work and Essentials Skills courses. The Reps 2 course replaces the Handling Cases course.

Members can also participate in training courses organised by their branch, section or region and funded by the education team.
Reps can access a range of other courses run by the TUC.

Choosing a Prospect course
On our course listings page, click on a course title to find out more about its content and who it's aimed at. This should help you make an informed choice about which course is right for you, based on your role and level of experience.
You'll also see if there are any scheduled dates/venues for the course; if you're logged in you'll be able to apply online.
If you're still unsure which course is most appropriate for you, please speak to your branch or section secretary and/or your Prospect organiser.

Please notify your branch secretary, Prospect organiser and full-time officer when you apply for a Prospect course. Think about how you will use your new skills once you are back at work and who will support you in this.
The key information page tells you what to expect when you apply for a course. Once you have a confirmed place on a course, please do your utmost to attend. If you're unable to attend, please let us know as soon as possible.
